Turkey to invade Iraq?

Jim Geraghty, who's living in Turkey now, discusses the situation.

Now, terrorism is terrorism is terrorism, Kurdish or not. The best course of action would be for Turkey to work with the United States and the Iraqi government to try and rectify the situation, as Ambassador Wilson said.

But, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Hopefully the Turkish government will remember that the United States is one of their closest allies, and that doing anything to hurt that would be unwise to the max.

Plus, there is that possibility of the Kurdistan region becoming a independent Kurdistan. What a mess that would be. That could lead to the whole of Iraq breaking down, which would freak out the minority Sunni, who would end up with the least land and oil reserves. Just the same apocolyptic "Iraq to dissolve into civil war" talk we've been hearing for the last 3 years.

But, just because the Turkish military is on stand-by means little. Not until they cross the border. I'm sure cooler minds will prevail.
